Lecture No. 63
Title😺:Design Optimization for Vehicular Crashworthiness and Transportation Safety
Presenter📮🎶:Dr. Howie Fang
Time:9:00-11:00,
July 20th, 2016
Place:Conference Room501, School of Transportation Science and Engineering, Beihang University
Abstract:
Design optimization for crash problems is challenging in that most crash
responses are highly nonlinear and often unavailable in explicit forms. In this
presentation, methods for simulation-based design optimization are discussed
and their applications to crash problems are discussed and related research
projects and applications are presented.
Short Biography:
Dr. Howie Fang is a professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering
and Engineering Science, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr.
Fang studied at Purdue University from 1998 to 2002 and worked on vehicular
crashworthiness at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, Mississippi State
University, from 2002 to 2006. Since he joined UNC Charlotte in 2006, he has
been working on vehicle crash, transportation safety, and other impact problems.
